2000 Honda Passport - Poor Gas Mileage

The gas mileage on my Passport has gotten worse over the past several months. I had a check engine light come on with code P0401 & replaced the EGR valve, which except for 2 times briefly, it eliminated the CEL. The EGR passages were not cleaned, could this affect my mileage or what else might I need to check. Id does not seem to have any type of engine miss.

well you need to get the egr and passages straightened out!
but when i owned mine i got 11 mpg city in winter and 14 mpg city in the summer.
keep in mind these vehicles get alot worse mileage in cold weather.
what are your numbers?

I checked yesterday & got 14. which the miles were hald interstate & half city.

Right now I'm getting 15.5 city and about 18.5 highway.
during the summer I'll be at 17.5 and 21.5.
cold and winter gas lowers the MPG.

How many miles on your truck? If approaching 100K, you might swap the front O2 sensors. I changed mine around 150K and my mileage went from 13 back up to 15 to 18mpg around town.
