hiya, i'm a 23 year old male in england and i'm looking to buy my first american car. i've always liked the '68, '69 and '70 Z28's. at the moment i'm geared towards getting a yellow '69 z28, nothing too fancy, just a mildly tuned lump and european styling, ie 18" rims, lowered stance, black leather, chrome roll cage, but all that'll come later.
what model would you recommend?:D
by the way, i can't make my siggy work....can anyone help me out?

I'd try for a 68 if you can.

i'd like a '68 but with a '69 front, in yellow with black stripes on the bonnet, slammed with 18" chromes, black leather interior with buckets and a chrome cage, and a blindin' sound system!:D

You read Street Machine, eh? :) I loved that yellow Camaro. I'm guessing you saw that mustardy-like coloured one they had recently.
BTW those things you mentioned aren't really European things. Plenty of American ones have those things done to them.
But anyway, I've always personally prefered the 69 over the 67 and 68 models. The front looks better to me and it just looks more chisled and crisp.
I'd say a 69 Z28 was pretty fancy! I'd be happy if I could have even a base model.
IMO the 69 and especially the Z28 model is one of the best styled cars ever made.
The 1970 cars are different. I equally like the second gen with the shark nose.
Heres one I'm sure you've seen in the magazine:
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid26/p7f0d2b33059e6974583b583d49b0a19e/fe455076.jpg.orig.jpg
I added a better background.
I really don't know what to say as I'd kill for any of them. With the luxury of choice it would be between a 69 and 70 for me. But I'd want both as they're quite different looking cars.

yeah that black one is pure heaven. i would love to have that one. like you said i'd like to have them all. i'd probably will but i want to know what i'd be better off first. i really like them all thats why its hard to choose.
the '68 has a better body but the '69 has a better front. i'm just wondering if they're the same so i could put a '69 front on a '68.
if you look in street machine august 2000, at the back theres that orange '68 camaro. imagine that in yellow with a '69 front and that'll be me!:D :p

I remember the orange one. It had all body coloured trim and bumpers.
I prefer the body and front of the 69 so I would easily choose it over a 67/68.
I think they got progressively better each of the first three years.
I haven't heard of anyone swapping the front of one onto another. I wouldn't attempt to guess if it could be done.

anythings possible, being a panel beater by trade i could do but i don't know if underneath the '69 is the same as a '68. it looks as though the '69 is just a remodeled exterior so it could be possible. i've never really got under one or up close to have a look.:(

I'm sure its just different panels. Thats the way they did things. Also, remember the Firebird was on the same platform.
But I think you should stick with a pure 69. The front suits the crisp side styling.

1969 Camaro SS:
Agostino Racing built 422 cubic inch LS1
Stage 3 LS6 Heads, Solid Roller Comp Cam
TH-400 with Transbrake.
HAL Shocks/Springs all the way around, Chromoly K-Members, A-Arms and Upper/Lower Control Arms.
12-Bolt rearend with 4.10 gears....
Can you say "8 sec. 1/4 mile?" :D
That or a 1970 Camaro with a 454 LS7 motor.
Nice show interior. Torque Thruster wheels, lowered, chrome rollcage....
Not only would it look AMAZING, but it woudl get up and MOVE too!

I'd say 67, but since thats not on the list, I'd go with 68. Such beautiful cars :)

1969's are more comfortable to drive, 1970's have better suspension geometry for performance. I've had both, and love them both!

Javelins are pretty awesome, and a unique ride!! Parts....might be a little hard to come by. I run an auto parts store, let me know if you are having a tough time finding something!

cheers, i'm already looking out for a windscreen. i'm going to fabricate repair sections for the bodywork as i'm afraid what new panels will cost new! the worse are the door shuts, they're completly gone! but its generally sound!
it's got a different wheel on each corner so i'm thinking about getting 7x15 supremes. but not sure what size tyres to get. at the moment i'm thinking about 235/60 15's.
have you got any pics of that red camero? (that little pic)

It would totally destroy the look of the '69 to put its nose on a 68 body. the 69 had the lip over both the front and rear wheel wells, while the 67 and 68 had radiused wheelwells, it would be an ugly match. If u want big wheels, u should go with the 67 or 68 cuz of the radiused wheelwells

that yellow one looks great! whats the bhp on that?
i think i'll jus get a '69 and leave it at that, no chopping about, its grown on me. but i'll only get a z28.
meanwhile i'll do the jav, make a bit of money on it then get me a '89 RS camaro. i like these and they're about half the price of a '69 z28! seen a couple of 89 -90 RS's advertised for $4000, which in UK is about £5500.
i saw one '69, mint, lots of things done to it, the guy was asking for $69,000!!!

Not sure if you were talking about my yellow one or not, but it hasn't been on the dyno yet. Our best guess though puts it between 700 and 1000 WHP....

I personly have a 69 SS so I prefer them over 67 and 68 models. Yellow with black stripes with Z-28 is nice. Yeah 70's are nice but I would go with that 69 Z-28 yellow w/black strips.
