Power Steering Problem?

I just took the car out to get some food and while I was stopped at a light this annoying screeching noise started coming from the front left side of the car. When the light turned green and I started to go it stopped.

This has happened a few times before. Once was when the power steering fluid was low and I refilled it (yes with the honda stuff).

It seems to only happen when it rains and I go through a puddle or something (like I did on my way home today). Any ideas on whats up with it?

Joey.

I'm sorry, I'm car-repair retarded. :)

Is this a big job or something I can probably do myself?

honestly i think if u dont know how to do it, u should get someone else to do it for u and jsut watch him or her and learn how to do it. because it is hard to explain stuff on internet especially if your car retarded

well I like to try and fix as much as possible. I have the shop manual and have done a few repairs etc but I'm not sure what the accessory belts are.

Maybe I'll sit this one out and let my buddy lead the way ;)

Thanks guys,

Joey

If you have the shop manual, the pump belt adjustment is on page 17-31.

hey Matt which manual do you have? I have the Haynes one and it seems to be different from yours.

Thanks again,

Joey

I have the Honda (helminc) manual. I'm pretty sure that the Haynes should have the procedure. It's very simple. If I get time, when I'm scanning some other things for school, I'll scan the page where it is described.

don;t overtighten the belts or youll screw up the water pump's bearings or the other accecories! if they look worn get new ones!

water pump runs off the timing belt on these motors. impossible to mess up that by over tightening the accessory belts. but you can screw up the alternator, AC, and power steering bearings.
