Ok this mechanic replaced my valve cover gaskets and in the process of that had to disconnect multiple hoses. after i got it back the car started missing really bad so i replaced the carb myself and it somewat solved the problem but now it has less power. im thinkin that in the process of the mechanic re-hooking the vacuum lines he mixed them up somehow so i need a diagram to check whats supposed to go where because im tired of dealing with this problem im ready to move to the next step of restoring.

this is common today,,,not in 1985 ...the mechanics today are not good at engines that have 20 feet of vacuum line...a vacuum gauge is needed to make sure you have no leaks...that means checking all the carb pull off's as well since they leak after a few years or after carb cleaner gets into them...

you need to be more exact with what engine this is...I have some diagrams that may help you...you will need to send your email address to me ...then I will sent the document for you...

Provided that it is a domestic model (not export or Canada model) the vacuum diagram should have looked like this:

Thanks for the assistance but this still didnt solve my problem. im stuck on now that its either the cat or something in the intake manifold or the harmonic balance. i have no idea.

remove the O2 sensor leave the hole open ..test drive it...if its better then it is a bad cat converter...make sure that it is not running too rich or a distributor/spark issue...new cat will get damaged with too much unburned gas getting to the converter..

Just because the hoses are routed correctly doesn't mean they aren't leaking due to age.

Also if you replaced the carb and things got a little better, re-torque the carb mounting bolts.
