Battery Cable length

Its a 97 Jimmy 4.3 2wd and the positive cable has alot of corrosion. I found a new one on the net that has the fuseable link and it says its 38" long. My question is , is that the correct length? Last time I looked It seemed longer, raining now so I cant go out and check.....
