I have a 1995 S-10 Blazer 4.3 Vortec. In the past it had an occasional stumbling problem off the line sometimes it would stall but it would always start right back up and once it was moving it ran fine. Recently it stalled and would not start again. So after some testing I found that it was leaking past the injectors so I replaced the whole injector / regulator assembly, and cap, rotor, and spark plugs. It started up and ran pretty good that is until you put it in drive. It surges bucks and dies. If you power brake it in drive it falls flat on its face but if you do the same thing in reverse it spins the tires and runs fine. The fuel pressure is at 53 lb idling or under load or in drive or reverse. After a little more research I replaced the tcc solenoid and I pulled the egr valve and cleaned it and the port. I have been banging my head against the wall for weeks it is making me crazy.
It runs fine in reverse but if you put it in drive and ease on the gas it will surge a couple of times and die right out

Fuel pressure is about 10 lbs low.
Specs is 55/61 lbs.

You should see about 59-60 idle.

Does fuel pressure drop when it quits?
Does it lose spark to plugs when it quits?

Any codes or check engine lights?

I would run a full fuel pressure test.
Check cold start and engine running and engine running on the road after hot and full fuel pressure test.

And confirm good hot blue spark to all plugs cold and hot.

Put a spark tester on it and watch for lose of spark before engine quits.

Post back all fuel pressure readings and what spark is doing.
And codes.

Thanks for the speedy reply. The fuel pump was replaced last year (I know new part doesn’t always mean good part ) and I had the pressure tester hooked up and I watched it at idle ,in reverse, and in drive stumbling and dying, pressure stayed around 53 the whole time. It has a tp sensor low voltage code that it has had for years even after I replaced it .I thought I had it licked when this problem started because I hooked up a volt meter to the tp plug and I had the 5 volt reference voltage so I started playing around with the harnesses while I watched the volt meter. This is how I found the bad connection at the vcm this has been fixed but the code did come back. Tps low voltage.

If the code is BACK BETTER RECHECK IT.
And fix that problem.
Good luck

Wouldn’t that affect the way it runs in drive or reverse. Keep in mind this thing runs great in reverse power brake it in reverse it will spin the tires but in drive it falls flat. That is what has me so crazy trying to find something that will cause that. The tp sensor ranges fine according to the data stream but I will dig a little deeper on Monday thanks so much.

You are welcome.
Your fuel pressure is low.
If a check engine light or code that also needs fixed.
Reverse is a different gear than low and PCM may adjust fuel and power different in reverse.
Also engine torque is different from low to reverse.
Could be moving wires and grounds and power feeds causing a connection problem to.
Good Luck
