UIM Problem

For some reason, I was under the impression that Buick fixed the UIM issue on models later than 1999; however, I noticed in the MSN reliability ratings that it is an issue for 2003 and later models (at least). Is this the case? Was the UIM issue resolved for a year or 2? I am looking to update, but don't want to deal with the UIM issue.

The problem was never really solved untill the Series III 3800 cake out and used the aluminum upper intake, its a Drive By Wire set up tho...
What GM did was revised the Stove pipe to be smaller so that there was an air gap between the EGR stove pipe and the nylon intake.. In both the Dorman kit and the APN kit an even smaller stove pipe is included... The APN kit has a stainless sleeve in the EGR port to help avoid the issues with the plastic deteriorating... These are installed on my cars... I have had no issues to date..
I highly recommend the APN kit...

Thanks. That's too bad. It seems like a design flaw that could have (should have) been fixed long before. It seems like the upper plenum problem has lasted about 10 years.
