C240 Brake Maintenance

i have an 05 C240,(not 4matic), with 27,000 miles that never had brakes replaced before. My tech told me the pads need to be replaced but the rotors are fine. My friends tech says that even though the rotors look fine they should be replaced with the pads.

Is it a matter of preference? Which is right?

Well ,if you can deal with somewhat noisey brakes, changing the pads is just fine.
They will need a good brake in though- to seat the new pad into the old rotor.
