I have the remote transmitter type key.Sometimes the key will unlock and lock all 4 doors.Other times it will unlock 3 doors and then I can see the drivers door trying to unlock (a slight movement). The spare key does the same thing. The button on each key to unlock the trunk works every time. I am going to change the battery first and see if that fixes the problem. Maybe the drivers door needs a lot more juice to open and the battery is just low on both keys. Any thoughts?

If you have around 50k plus miles I would suggest you purchase a replacement door lock actuator. This honda part is cheap around 20 bucks and it takes around 1.5 hours to replace with basic skills. I would suggest a warm place as you will need to remove two small plastic pieces to remove the lock arms and they are very brittle in cold weather. Watch out for the passenger door next. I did my drivers side at 82k and I am at 160k and it has not failed so original honda replacement part seems to be better quality.

Thanks for your response. I forgot to come back and let people know what I did to fix it. Yes it was the driver door actuator. Here in Calif it was around $37. I had to pull the window out to get one of those plastic snaps off that locks the door. I also pulled the metal track by the door lock that channels the window up and down. Just study it and you will see what you need to do. I could not find any help with this problem in my Haynes manual. It took about 2 hours and works perfect again. A lot cheaper than taking it to the dealer. I also had trouble getting those 3 philips screws loose that hold the latch mechanism in the door. I ended up drilling 2 of the heads until it fell off and then took the rest of the screw off once I had the whole mechanism in my hand. Like you said earlier in your post be careful with this item because the plastic is so cheap and the way they attach things it is easy to break. I had to buy 2 new philip screws at $2.50 each. Honda -----> nickeling and diming us to death to get the rest of their profit out of us.

WOW! You went extreme with the repair. I removed the door panel, outer handle,2 clips and the screws holding the actuator. I was going to do what you did then realized that if I tried a little harder to be patient I would see what not to remove. Glad to hear it worked out and you did not break or remove something that could not be fixed.
