The cooling fan in my '88 prelude 2.0s recently just went out on me. It has not been overheating really yet, due to the cold weather i think, but I need to get it figured out. I'm not sure but I think it is kicking on once in a while while driving. My temp gage moves up and down while driving. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to electrical problems so I can use all the help any of you can give. Thanks for reading..

honestly it sounds like its working properly from your discription.you can let it idle
for awhile to see when it turns on/off

CTS might be going out. Check your fuses/relays for the fan. The motor in the fan might just be going out too. It's from '88 so it's probably seen better days. Is your CEL on?

Figured it out. It was the cooling fan switch. I Pulled the plug off the switch and jumped the two prongs of the plug while the car was running and the fan kicked on. so I replaced the switch and all is good. Thanks to those of you that replied.
