I just received my trd alttezza from HLJ, it absoltuly sucks, it comes wiht everthing stock, except for decals, which are pretty cool, it doesnt come wiht the front lip on the box or the wheels not even the seats, its stock unless u put the decals on. I am very dissapointed in it.

I got mine yesterday and totally agree, that must be why they were in the sale.
As for which Bike they are all have the same type of detail, so it is really down to your personal taste. The decals on some can be tricky
so maybe one with only a few decals would be best to start with.

Back to your other question.......
Just about any Tamiya bike is going to be a good kit, so you will have to decide what you like.
I don't know what they cost, but Tamiya do race bikes and regular sportbikes, they come with extras like wiring and the parts are all well molded too.

I must say building a model bike is an entirely different experience than cars. Alot more detail and time consuming. Alot more parts.
They cost a bit more than tamiya cars, this one costed me about $45 CDN
here is one of my model bikes...

Bimmerkid, that is a pic of the Yamaha YZF-R1, road version, can see the headlights whereas the racing versions do not have any headlights.
TamiyaUsa got it all wrong about this bike. Small mistake, nvm.
Yamaha YZF-R1:
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/plastic/112motorcycleseries/images/14074.jpg
and the racing version: Yamaha YZF-R1 Taira Racing
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/plastic/112motorcycleseries/images/14073.jpg
Not much modifications can be done to bikes unlike cars.
Anyways, bikes do appeal to me alot. As a teenager, I rode one and was a 'hellrider' myself til I got into an minor accident.
I would definitely go into bikes 1 of these days, just a matter of time and 1 of those above bikes will break my 'virginity' :D

Correction! you have it backwards Chain, The Silver R1 you see is the Taira Racing version which is the blue one i posted above. Its Taira racing as in that it has a different muffler and other goodies from the race version tuned by Taira. The red and blue one you posted are the original R1's NOT racing.

Anyways, thanks for pointing it out to me :)

no probs! Yes im sure, i have the box of both :D
Its not the racing version of the bike per say, its the tuner street version. Like how Porsche has the 911 based GT3 for the road, and racing version for the track with some goodies from the racing version added to the 911 to make it the Gt3 road version.
So i guess u can say its a YZF-R1 tuned by Taira Racing. It has differnt parts in the kit to reflect that, like a differnt exhuast, differnt chain and pullys and gears, kelvar rear splash guard, stuff like that. I love this kit, joy to build.

They r nice but I guess if U want more details then 1/12 will be good.
Otherwise side by side with your 1/24 cars, then a 1/24 bike would be more proportional right?
What would a 1/24 bike side by side with a 1/24car be like?

You mentioned that its a shame cos alot of the work gets covered up by the fenders and fairings.
I thought the fenders are detachable? Same for the fairings?
Anyways I'll be leaving soon from my office and dropping by my hobby shop. Will have to find out more about them bikes!

About the Repsol Honda RC211V
2002 saw a major change in WGP. Big size 990cc 4-stroke motorcycles were given the green light to race with 500cc 2-stroke motorcycles in the top category of the MotoGP class. Honda entered the 4-stroke RC211V in this class in which harsh competition was expected. This revolutionary machine was equipped with a unique V5 engine mounted on an aluminum twin tube frame and state-of-the-art "Unit Pro-Link" suspension. Riding the Repsol Honda RC211V, Valentino Rossi won 11 of 17 season races and his teammate Tohru Ukawa took the victory in the South Africa Grand-Prix resulting in Rider Title for Rossi and Maker Title for Honda.

Go for it Integra14,
I've built some and currently working on two others. For a first bike kit the Ducati 916 is hard to beat. It has a beatiful, large 2 cylinder engine which you can expose, an easy build, single color body work and minimal decals. You will enjoy it.

LOL, the second shot is a lot older than the first, it was when I just got my digicam and not very well practiced.
It doesn't help that I have mild carpel-tunnel syndrome so if I try to hold anything still more than a few seconds, I develop an awful tremble....
I have since started using a pedestal for taking my photos, as you can see from all my recent photos which are a lot better.

Just to share with all of you regarding the race R1, i did this about 5 years ago, my race R1 ver 1...right now working on my ver 3. stay tuned...
Basically, any street bike will be suitable for a start because it contains less parts compared to pure racing bikes.

I usually build cars but I also have some of Tamiya's excellent bikes on the shelf. Why not try out their latest release, the new 1/12 Repsol Honda RC211V, looks smashing and have an interesting engine layout...a 900cc V5 configuration. At the moment I have a Ducati 916 and a Honda VFR 750 in slow progress. It seems that I like many others is having to many projects at the same time. But, hey! Get a Bike, they're a blast to build and a nice sidestep from building just cars.
