I replaced the fuel pump on this vehicle less than an month ago but today it wont start and with the key engaged ( but not as far as to crank the mootor I hear no whine from the pump. Can the pump be bad? If I plug in the old pump ( which was bad but cycled) and I get no reaction what should I check next?

I dropped the tank and installed the old fuel pump to the wiring and it cycled. So I have good power to the pump assembely. Can it just be a bad pump or is there something else that could burn out a pump that fast? I have noticed the dashlights cutting out and resetting since I installed the new pump. Dont know for sure it started at that time its just when I can recall seeing them reset. Also I have had problems removing the key from the ignition when it was in park ( a temp quick fix for this is to use the wheel tilt to change the position of the colum, and it comes out) . Any suggestions or observations?

did you use a delphi pump?

High resistance in the wiring to the fuel pump will cause premature pump motor failure. The connector at the fuel pump is a known issue, most new pumps come with a new connector and it must be soldered on to the vehicle harness. If the old pump cycles, the new pump is faulty, what brand pump did you use?

I doubt it was a Delphi. The box just says made in China. O'Reilly wanted 399.00 for a new pump, Auto Zone 310.00 got this one for 150. So I should replace the connector and the pump? Is the connector a dealer item if there isint one supplied with the pump or can I clean the old one?

Use a delphi. The after market ones are junk, unless you like to keep replacing them.

Take the replacement pump back for a refund. Then check on eBay for AC Delco or Delphi pumps. The 2 Door pump is slightly more expensive than the 4 Door pump. They both come with the new connector. Don't waste your time with aftermarket stuff, it's all the same...junk. Airtex tops the list!

I do so appreciate the assistance you gentlemen have given. Its refereshing to see a site on the net that actually is used as a communication tool, as opposed to a come on, to make a few bucks. KUDOS! I replaced the old pump with a new piece of crap( warranty item, no refunds) when it goes bad in a few weeks I will buy a Delphi and install it. Should have come to this site first. Would have saved about 12 hours under the vehicle. And I would say to any Blazer owners ,the high fuel pressuer line on this vehicle didnt have the connection clip. As a backyard mechanic I just took off what was there and replaced it. And of course it came off after 30 miles costing me a tow fee. I hope this was pump was replaced prior this vehicle being sold, if not Chevy really fucked up at the factory, as I appear to have driven a bomb for 18 months untill I discovered this. The connector is a dealer part, Redropped the tank and...rechoked the chicken. Thanks Chevy or some asswipe mechanic. I know the prior owner didnt do her own work.
