Second set of tires and still whining

My wife's 05 Camry had a set of Pirelli 3000 on them until she had "unavoidable obstruction" encounter, couple of hundred bucks later car had 2 new tires in the rear and all was fine until i noticed they stated (or at least seemed like they did) to wine at a higher speeds. Went back to Discount Tire complained, they gave me some money for all four and I got a new set of Pirelli’s had them for 2 weeks they wined as well. I came back and had Discount install new set of Bridgestone tires. I am starting to think maybe I am complaining about the tires for no reason :screwy: and it the differential or something?
How do check what produces the wining (at about 40mph) tires or the drivetrain?

did the different tire make any change?
if not then on a clear road when it whines turn slightly like your on a curved off ramp and see if that changes the noise when the steering wheel is turned if so you have a bad wheel bearing

Did you tell them about the "encounter"? If so, they should have suggested an alignment check to make sure the suspension wasn't knocked out of whack or bent. I'd also suspect a damaged rear wheel bearing, which is possibly a side effect of an out of aligned rear suspension. If the suspension is out of whack, the bearing can be unevenly loaded, causing damage and early failure.

BTW, though you probably know this, Camrys don't have a differential in the rear...they're FWD only.

I've tried going down the hill with transmission in neutral, just to see if it changes anything - it didn't neither did the playing with the steering wheel a bit. I thought that pitch changed today a little bit when I went from the concrete pavement to the asphalt on the freeway but I am not 100% on that yet, will try again tomorrow?
I/we did tell the Discount about he unavoidable road hazard but they don't sell alignments so no reason for them to suggest :lol2:
It's a good idea to check though.

You didn't mention what kind of obstruction she encountered, but consider that you may have a bent rim on one of the wheels, or a damaged bearing as already mentioned.

FYIW..... the state recently repaved parts of the main drag where I live. The first time I drove one of the stretches of newly paved road, I was weirded out by this whinning/howling noise I heard. I honestly thought there was something wrong with my car. Then, I then went back to the part that wasn't repaved, and the noise went away. Huuummmpft.... Today, I took my neighbors car to town, and her car made the same weird noises on the newly paved parts. Could your noises be the road itself as this is? JUst a thought????????????
