Help!! Stuck key in Ignition??

I was stranded tonight when leaving work,went out sto start 92 GA SE 3.3 V6 w/ auto and when I turned the key it started but died immediately. I also couldnot back the key to release it so it's stuck in the ignition.... What happened and how can I fix it. I think whatever is keeping it from releasing it is also keeping it from starting. Please help as this car is at my work place. Thanks!

Hey no problem, under the steering wheel plastic cover you will see small opening or maybe like a small plastic cover that you can remove so that you can use screw driver or pen to push the button inside that will release your key. Then when you get home remove the plastic cover and completely remove that solenoid I think it has black and white wire. You will never have problems again. And yes you can perfectly drive the car without it.
