Old Tamiya Kits

Hi,

Does anyone know if there's a website out there that would list all the Tamiya models ever made, including OOP ones, particularly 1/24 cars, 1/20 F1, and 1/12 bikes and cars. I've had a quick search a few times before but not found anything comprehensive enough so far.

I'm considering my next project and it would be nice to remind myself of those models not seen for a while in case there's something I fancy building that I can keep an eye out for on eBay. Top of the list is a Porsche 956 at the moment, not sure which one.

Thanks

Agreed.

I have been hoping to find a web site with box images of nearly all Tamiya models made.

The Tamiya web site is a bit annoying at times, really bad user experience.

If you know the make/model of a car you would like to build then I always seem to find kits at:

Hobby Search
http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=101&scope=0&scope2=0&urikire=1&itkey=tamiya+1%2F24

I always use that site to find out of any kits exist for a certain make/model of car and its usually pretty accurate.

To add:

Don't forget to uncheck the checbox "Don't show all out of stock items" ... this will hopefully get you some of the older kits.

The product detail pages usually contains a lot of images including scans of the manuals, really useful!

Thanks TurboGuru,

That's a good site, I've used it before to get copies of Tamiya instructions, either because I've lost one somewhere over the years or to get an idea of the kit contents.

I'll see what comes up in a search.

I found this:

http://www.scale24-25.com/catalog/tamiya/tamiya-24001-24050.htm

No pics, but a list of all 1/24 models from Tamiya.

The 'broken' images at the very bottom of the page are forward and backward buttons.

The rest of the site doesn't seem to work.

Just an FYI: Tamiya has reissued the 956 recently. Not in the original Rothmans livery but in Canon and Kenwood liveries. Both should be readily available. Studio 27 made Rothman decals for it.

S27 also have a PE set and photo disc which I'm quite interested in. I've found a few pics of the 956 on the web, probably enough, but no where near as many as the 962 for example.

The 962 appeals as a subject, but the Tamiya kit doesn't have the engine detail. Can anyone recommend an alternative while we're on the subject?

Studio 27 did a 956 to 962 conversion for the tamiya 956 kit. I got one off Ebay awhile back. They did a few different versions with decals and one without decals. I don't know if they are still available from Studio 27.

hmmm

The only problem with the Tamiya site is that they still don't showcase older models.

If you've looked inside a Tamya kit made in 2000 or before you'll see printed on the inside some boxes of their other kits. It is only when I see these I become aware of the other model kits Tamiya created, non of which are on their catalogue web sites.

I can understand this, as they want their catalogue to showcase more newer items but it would be great if we had a site listing almost every kit (along with some box art) that Tamiya made.

Case in point, I was looking for VW Golf Mk4..... I typed everything and it was only thanks to MidMazar that I eventually found it..... Tamiya had no record of making this model and yet they did!
