Super Charger Question

My 95 Riv has a bearing going out on the S/C and whines all the time, my Buick repair shop told me I could just cut the belt on the snout and the car would run just fine. Now my question is if I no longer have the super charger hooked up do I still need to use premium gasoline in my car?
