85 4x4 transfercase vacuume probs

ok, i'm in alaska, so this problem is becoming more serious now, than when i got the truck.
it's an 85 s-10, 2.8l, 4 speed man, and 4x4 ...
the 4x4 doesnt work.
now, when i got the truck, it was cleary in sad shape, because i paid 200$ for it, and drove it home, wish just the windshield intact, so far as glass, and about 80lbs of grass from the kids field where he abused it, stuck to the bottom... along with all the grass, was the vacume lines that go to the transfer case were also hanging down.
I hooked them (3) back up (after some repairs), and looked for leaks, but like the rest of the truck, i suspect they've been fiddled with. Because, while it wasnt a problem in the summer, it's become a problem NOW.
i have no 4x4. The actuator is not engaging, because it has no vacuume. Worse yet, is the chilton and the haynes books i have, do not deal with the transfercase/4x4 vacuume diagrams AT ALL. SO, i have no idea where to begin to check if it's properly routed.
how it goes now, first of the 3 goes from transfercase to near the battery, and has a cap on it. the second goes up, and straigt into the actuator, the third, the vacume supply, coems from the engine, hits a splitter near the distributor, one goes down to the tranfercase, the other side of the split appears to go to either the winshield wiper thing, OR, a small round ball/vacuume canister on the drivers side--it's the only like coming in or out--but there is a capped connector on the ball as well.
Anyone have a diagram of it, or tell me exactly where those 3 lines go, how they're split up? what parts may go bad to cause this, or how to test something?
HELP! man alive, i need me some 4x4.
thanks in advance

Anything left of the vacumn diagram in engine compartment?
Check with your gm parts dealer and see if they can or will print out the vacumn diagram for your truck.
A good factory repair manual or a all dat sub has the vacumn routing in them.
http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html
Also auto Zone web site has some repair info on it.
Look around on used car lots and see if any of them has a truck like yours and look at it.
Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck

well, dealer isnt going to happen. even if they could tell me, and it's 45 miles away, it's raining, on top of the ice that was already on the road, and i have a 2 wheel drive. not goin there :p
may just have to go to the wrecking yard, see what one of those looks like--it's so old, there really are none in the used car lots.
and the autozone, or what ever, i've never been able to find anything other than generic stuff on there, and the other site wanted money, not gonna happen..
but thanks :)

You are welcome.
But good info is not always free but the cost but pays for itself.
Remeber
http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html
Is only a finger tip and a piece of plastic away.
With it you can be set up in 5 minutes with the info you you need to fix it.
And have it repaired in a hr and be on your way to 4W driving.
Good Luck
