Is this a muscle car or not? Am I in the right subthread? :)
I hooked it up to f40 rims that reminded me of ats magwheels from that era with bolts on it.
Aside from the body, everything else in this doyusha kit sucks btw!

The wheels suit the body perfectly!
As for a muscle car or not, that depends on what you shove under the hood.:grinyes:

Another wheel set that would be right for the era would be the Halibrand wheels, as on the GT40.

I have a couple of these Doyusha Capri's waiting for me, to build as race cars. I have noticed that they were originally made as slot car bodies, and the sills are incorrect.

Your build is looking good - this was an iconic car. It would be nice if you can post some larger side views - I'd like to see how accurate the profile is.

Keep it coming!

BTW - in it's original form the car had 1600, 2 and 3 liter variants. A tuner here in Johannesburg developed a version called the Perana Capri with a 302ci Windsor V8 (280 HP) for racing. It's highly sought after, as I believe only 640 were built.

Thanks. The proportions are pretty good, apart from that sill thing I mentioned.

BTW I forgot to mention that the second car I owned was a Capri 1600GT. I really loved that car - it was like an English Mustang.

Looks good so far, I am also doing one of these Capris, I thought that the sill was too flat and needed to be bent back under the body, I did this by scribing the body follwed by bending and filling, here is where I am so far in case it helps:

Looking good so far. I have been looking for a decent model of the Capri. I had a '72 with the 2600 V-6, headers, ANSA exhaust and of course 4-sp manual. It was a real screamer! It was also Metallic Brown, just a bit lighter than your model. Ahh, memories!

Didn't mpc make a full detail version? Try taking closer pics outside maybe. The paint looks good though.

AMT did a full detail Capri II in 1:25 but it is the USA version with the 'crash' bumpers. Nice kit overall, I have one in my 'collection'.

AMT kit (exactly like mine)

Monogram did a curbside Capri II in 1:24. OK, but simplified chassis, etc.. Of the other US companies, I've never seen or heard of one from MPC.

The AMT and Mongram kits were the mark 2 version, the Doyusha kit is the mark 1 version. I should think you could still use the interior thought as they were virtually the same.
