I was on the way to the lease, pulling a heavy trailer and the transmission started to slip (RPMS increasing). I was able to make the trip to the lease in 2nd at 3K RPM doing under 50 mph. What is the best way to fix this at low cost?

If you tow a heavy trailer in 4th gear you can expect this to occur..you will need complete overhaul and flushing of the transmission cooling lines and a new torque converter..
no cheap way out here..

Darn, Not sure I want to put a lot of $$ into fixing this old truck. I have a new 3/4 ton z71 and this older one was for the lease. It has been a good one, lasted 13 years and over 200K miles, everything else still works like new. May need to see what I can get for it from someone that wants to put the time and money into a good truck.

You fried your 3-4 clutches, not uncommon in these transmissions. This is a very weak link in the 4L60E. It is rebuild time.
