Preformance shift?

I have tried raceing with this on and off, I see no difference, what is this for?

I've never really investigated it, but I heard that it just stays in gear longer. For example(under gentle acceleration):
W/O performance shift: Shifts into second gear at 3000rpms
W/ performance shift: Sfifts into second gear at 3200rpms
[Note: no idea when it would really shift, I made estimates, so they may not be accurate depictions of when the car would actually shift.]

I think that it firms up the shifts so it doesn't try to shift smoothly like it does when it's turned off. I also think it stays in gear a bit longer.

GM builds these cars and trucks so that you don't notice the shift! Too many people used to complain about the bump during a shift so GM made the electronic transmissions shift to where you don't even notice them.

My car doesn't make difference with Performance Shift Button or without. On the highway, i see the 2nd gear shifts around 5900, and 3rd at 5400 or less... Nothing like before.
Can be my 235/55 R16 the problem?.

Heres the differnce I've noticed:
Under moderate acceleration, with perf. shift off, the rpm's move very little, but the boost gage increases; implying that the engine is accelerating by just a slight increase in rpm, but an increase in compression/power.
with perf. shift on, both rpm's and boost gage increase at approx. the same level.
(I could be wrong, its just the only thing I could come up with :smile: )

Perf. Shift affects:
Transmission Line Pressure - Increases it
Moves your shift points up slightly
of course if you get a DHP PCM http://www.digitalhorsepowerinc.com/ you will see a bit more in perf. shift.
Fuel Table adjustments
Larger increase in Transmission fluid pressure
Skip shifts 3:1, 4:2
Shift Points expanded even further up the RPMs
Transmission Line Pressure - Increases it
Moves your shift points up slightly

my best friend's got a 92 saturn SL2 n its got the factory performance chip n he's got the performance shift switch too...except in his you can tell a big difference...at WOT, with the performance shift on, it shifts at the red line, about 6K...without it on, it shifts at like 5K
