I HAVE A 89 F-250 with the 351 windsor it is a plow truck, it all started with the battery being dead so i jumped it and drove it up into my shop. the i pulled out the battery and charged it. so when it was done chargeing i put the battery back in and then i heard sizzling not good a sound. I soon figured out the battery was shorted out and reversed polarity so i took the battery back from where i got it and they gave me a new one. well now after this it cranks has spark but no fuel. (it will run with starting fluid) I determined the fuel pumps and injectors were not turning on. I also did get the fuel pump to work by manually engaging the fuel pump relay but still no start because the injectors wont pulse still. sooooo with all that being said does anybody have any idea on what electrical component fryed that would be cause by either a shorted battery or somebody hooking the battery backwards. my first guess is the computer but i dont want to put alot of money into the old truck if i dont have to thanks for reading post(::banghead:

It should be a fried "Fuesable Link" that is part of the power wire going to, and about 6 inches before the Fuel pump relay. On my truck, it (fuel pump relay) hangs off the the back side of the air filter houseing, next to the PCM relay. The Fuseable link going to the PCM relay protects the Computer.

Check the power to the PCM relay too. You can pop the black caps off both relays w/ a small screw driver and see if the contacts inside are burnt. As for the computer, run a code scan. It would come back w/ a cannot communicate code. You should error code test it anyway. The KOEO (Key On Engine Off) test should tell you what's missing for a start condition. If you can't find someplace to test it: Equus Innova 3145 OBD-I Ford Scan Tool (http://www.handsontools.com/Equus-Innova-3145-OBD-I-Ford-Scan-Tool_p_5574.html) or manual test: FORD 1983-1995 OBD1 Decoder

Both relays should be functioning (closing) in order to start and run!
