whats up everyone. im jimmy, i drive a black 93 Sol with a 94 Teg LS swap with AEM CAI, GReddy catback, & Skunk2 coilovers. just thought id say whats up to everyone. anyone else got a sol with an ls swap here? it runs pretty good. i raced a :apuke: neon on saturday that supposedly had an ecu chip that cost him like $800. pulled a few cars from him in first then just left him in 2nd. he was suprised that i beat him as bad as i did.

how is racing someone on the street and beating them not a kill?

94SolGrl
04-11-2003, 06:46 AM
because street racing is stupid, and when you get busted, which you will, you give imports an even worse rep among cops than they already do. Also, it's dangerous. Just pay $15 and keep it at the track. I don't care if you beat a viper on the street. It's not a kill because it was on the street. I got busted once, and got let off way more lightly than I should have, and now I literally have police escorts wherever I go. There are always cops near me. You think that's fun? It's not. Quit being fucking stupid.

uhmm....i understand that u disagree w/ street racing, but its not exactly the worst thing we could be doing. how is it stupid if we're on a 4 lane road with no turn on/offs from side streets? same as being on a track jus w/ being AT a track. 'm not saying that all street racing is fine (i completely am against racing in an out of traffic, or on roads where there are turn outs), but for some ppl there isn't a track nearby at all, so it isn't as "simple" as spending $15 to goto a track. ooo...btw its $28 up here, so u got it a lil cheaper where u are.

u must live in a small town or somethin if the cops can go outta their way jus to FOLLOW u, AFTER they were lenient on u...i mean, i get followed, yea, but it comes with the territory WHETHER U STREET RACE OR NOT.

soooo...in conclusion GOOD KILL...

(an im not tryin to start a flame war w/ u solgrl...jus adding my opinion is all :D )

I disagree w/ streetracing also but I also agree w/ KrNxRaCer00. It ain't like he's selling drugs to kids or driving drunk. Streetracers get bad reps because of all the stupid ass kids doing it now. Streetracing has been around forever and it can be contolled.

I beg to differ with you. I, along with many other people in this forum would consider it a legitimate kill.

All I'm sayin is that everytime someone gets busted, imports and sols get a worse rep. And it is stupid... even if you're on a freakin 4 lane road with no turn ons or offs... you know what happens if you wreck? Everyone else bails. So you're sittin there with a fucked up face and a fucked up car and no one around. Sounds great, huh? No track near you? That's fine... Coolest thing you can do.. start up a club of people in your area who wanna do it, call the P-O, and tell em what you wanna do and they'll usually let you block off an unused street.

And KrNX, the difference between going on an off road somewhere and going to the track is that the track is a controlled environment, and if anything happens, they have people there to get you the fuck out.

But you know what? whatever y'all... your fuckin cars, your fuckin asses. But a street kill is not a kill.

 u think we haven't tried to get them to close a road? its not as easy as "hi, we want u to close a road so we can race." yea...thas gonna happen. u live in ur own little world don't u?

wut's w/ all the harsh words? we're sayin our views quite civilly an ur jumpin all over us.

do u realize how long street racing has been around? uhm...long time before any of us were around, an did it die jus cuz ppl got a "bad rep?" nope...it never will. its not street racing that gives us a bad name, its ppl who race in an outta traffic, rev' on everything that moves, an whom don't kno wut they are doing at all tryin to act like they are the ish.

one last thing...the point about ppl ditching an being left there? uh...everyone who i street race w/ knos the threats an dangers of it. once our track opens to the public, we'll be going there every weekend, but sometimes u jus gotta get a race in. ur saying u've NEVER since ur street racing episode raced someone from a stop light? 'm sorri, but ur points jus don't really mean much, considering that they are things that all the ppl i race w/ kno already.

one last time...GOOD KILL

Street racing can be controlled. You say that it just gives imports a bad name but in reality streetracing has given every generation's cars bad reps. When it was Camaro's and Charger's that young people were driving cops profiled them and in isn't any different now. Oh and what reputable state or county police force would block off a road for streetracing? That is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard. I work with many a state patrolman and there ain't no way that shit would go down. Another thing what kind of people do you hang out with that would bag on you when you screw up and crash? I'd look for some new "FRIENDS" if I were you. Overall before you start using harsh words and calling people stupid for their take on things remember, it's a forum and you should have an open mind before you post.

How can you ask me to respect your points of view when you're not respecting mine? You know how I got busted? No. You wanna know? Fine. A buncha people were out on a country road racing and a guy crashed. Out of about 50 people there, all but 3, myself included, bailed. They just got in their cars and ran. We called the cops because we needed an ambulance. The EMT's said the guy was dead before his car even stopped rolling. They asked what we were doing out there so late, and one of the guys said that we just happened to drive by and see the flipped car, which was so incredibly obviously a lie, but "due to the severity of the situation", the cops didn't go into further investigation. So don't tell me I don't know. I heard the cop make the phone call to say that they just found some mother's son on the side of the road, ok?

And no, I don't run people at stoplights. I drive the same way, no matter what. If some ricer with some stickers and an exhaust wants to pull me, more power to him. I'm not gonna put myself in jeopardy for something that can't even be proven.

Yes, I know street racing has been around since the car was invented. Just like every other sport, people want their team or themselves to be better than everyone else, and you usually see cars on a street.. miracle of miracles. But every street that is laid is there for a reason, and one of these days your luck will run out.

And in conclusion, I know people who get streets closed for races. You just have to have enough people to make a case, and be civil. I'll be driving around Buford and see cones out along side streets and people racing. Cops go by every once in a while, it's all good.

So back off of me.

Sad story but happens far too much. That's the price you pay either on the track or the street. I've had a couple friends die due to speed but that's the risk you take on or off the track. My point is no matter where you go death and bodily injury is always a factor. Who are you to judge and ridicule these people? You say you disagree with streetracing but then you say it's okay if the PD lets you guys block off a street and race that way. The same dangers apply in that situation also without EMT supervision. I like KrNxRaCer00 am not trying to start a flame war but you contradict yourself and by doing that make your point invalid.

94SolGrl
04-14-2003, 07:11 AM
I know there's always a risk, but why do something with a high risk when you can do the same thing with a lower risk? I'm not ridiculing anyone.. street racing itself is stupid, but ultimately it's up to the driver. Blocking off the streets keep other people safe who aren't racing. Like the person who goes to turn onto their usual street and almost gets nailed by two racers. That's not cool at all. I personally don't race at the blocked off streets, because I don't like a majority of the people there, and because it's too hectic. Someone always gets hurt somehow (usually from a fight over just who won an especially close race). Like I said before. Your car, your ass, do what you want with them. Just don't expect my respect when you say you pulled a neon on the street. To me it's not a kill. These little pieces of paper with times on them that I have in my scrapbook... those are kills.

KrNxRaCer00
04-14-2003, 02:10 PM
i already said that putting OTHERS not in the race in danger is inexcusable. thas why we race on roads with NO turns on/off. with the way that we race, we run the SAME risks as if we went to a track. wuts the difference? nothing except for the fact that the medics are much quicker, but if u crash at a high speed, u'll most likely lose ur life before they can even get to u. 'm not saying ALL street racing is fine, because it is not. there is however IMO an appropriate time/place where u can street race.

as for blocking off roads, down in tukwilla, an up here in everett we have TONS of racers, an ppl have tried to get a road shut off before, but, its not going to happen.

as for ppl leaving the scene...thas why u choose who u roll w/. its jus like if u goto the track an mess up ur car, how many of those ppl will goto the hospital to see u? ur tru friens. i race w/ ppl who are friens, an some who are not. i wouldn't expect all of them to stay IF i crashed, but i do kno that the majority of them would.

i do respect your opinion, but don't put down wut we do, an blame us (street racers) for the bad rep of imports.

accidents do happen every day. when i was in high school, a girl in my class was killed when her BROTHER was racing somebody on a 2 lane road (one lane each way) and nobody saw the car over the hill, and when the other car hit her head on her brother kept going and turned up missing for a couple of weeks, and she died and his buddy he was racing lived. so we have our experiences to know that it does happen.

but racing somebody from a red light is a different story to me, when there are two lanes on your side, and when his race was over by 2nd gear, nobody is going too much faster than highway speeds by that time. it is most likely an area not in the middle of nowhere that an ambulance couldn't get there quick if something did happen. obviously the track is best without a doubt. there is certainly nowhere around me where the cops would let us shut down a street to race, that must be nice. around here it's the track, a quick drop a red light, and that's it. usually a race is pretty one sided and the race is decided pretty quick, no harm done.

but like it was said, each to their own and that's the way it will always be.

first, the only track near me is a circle track & im not racin on that & the closest straight track is too far for me to just hop in & drive without havin to spend an extra $50 to get a hotel room if i wanna get some good racing in. second, i see more of a danger racing on a track cuz where we race on the street, its a little more than a 1/4 with no turns & no lights 2 lanes each way. but class just ended so ill finish this later.

I don't own the board, but why keep an argument going if it died down already? That's just common sense... like saying "Mom.. remember the time I crashed your car and you got really mad at me?"... that and "honey! Look at these vids from my bachelor party! Holy shit I can't believe I did that!" Just let it die and let it go. I'm not angry, but it does irritate me when people tell me to respect what they're saying when they're not respecting what I'm saying. That, my dear Watson, is good old fashioned hypocrisy. And that is my .02.

how have i disrespected ur views? everyone has kept it clean except for u. we aren't putting down ur insight on the topic at all. so no...i am not being a hypocrite.

those comments don't really make sense at all. he was adding HIS views to this thread. i don't see any connection to the "mom...remember..." the guy was jus adding his ideas...ONE LAST TIME...nobody is hating on ur views. we are simply saying our opinions. jus because someone doesn't agree w/ u, doesn't mean they are disrespecting ur views. i'll say it flat out, I RESPECT UR VIEWS, BUT i have completely opposite ideas about the whole topic.

yeah.. I get that... but you know what? I cuss like a sailor... Doesn't matter if I'm happy, sad, pissed, depressed, whatever. Just who I am. And by the way, I have an attitude, I love my attitude problem, and there's only a few things I feel very strongly about. Street racing is one of them because I feel strongly about things that take friends and loved ones from me.

Sorry, but I can't respect you as a true automotive motorsport enthusiast if you do that. That's like the people saying they support artists by downloading their music. Whenever I see people street racing, my blood just boils because I've seen people come close to death, and oh yeah.. I saw a guy actually die. You may see the pictures of dead people or whatever and think it's no big deal, but when you're actually there, and you smell the smells and feel the just overall shock and fear, it's different.

And if you think that was an argument, you don't know me at all... that was a mild spat....

hrmmm...so someone who goes ONLY to the track to run, but kno's nothing about cars is more of an enthu then me? sorri, but no. im takin it to the track, but its an hour away an almost 30 bucks a day, so its not exactly the easiest way to go.

jus cuz u take it to the track, makes u no more of an enthu then me. jus cuz u get little slips makes ur more of one..psh...come talk cars w/ our street racers, an then we'll see who's an "enthusiast."

where u race doesn't discredit how much of one u are. its ur perception of automobiles an knowledge on them.

o btw...i take it that most of the guys on the NHRA (imports) aren't true enthusiasts either? cuz i'd say over half of them used to street race...but they weren't at that time? psh...

you may know 100x more than the kid with the stock ford tempo at the track, but to me, the kid is smarter, since he's at the track. You're not gonna be able to sway me on this one. Sure you know a lot and everything, but streetracing just makes me lose a lot of respect for you.

id like to start off as saying good kill and that racing has been around for ever before cars it was somthin else and if you want to do it on a quite industrial street at 3 in the morning the law should use some descresion instead of trying to make a buck and to t6hink that its a hazred yes it is but everyone in t5hat area knows this and willing to particpate most of the time the accidents occure when the cops come and everyone scdrambles to get out of there as your reading this there are plenty of street racing occuring somewhere and it will continue

once again good kill
