2003 Frod Taurus SE 4 door sedan. Vibration during acceleration. Most notable at speeds between 40 and 80 MPH. The vibration is not felt in the steering wheel, but rather in the seat of my pants.
I just purchased the car used about 4 months ago. It has 106000 miles on it. Engine runs great, trans shifts perfectly. I just put 4 new tires on it, had them balanced, had a 4 wheel alignment done. The car looks and runs like a new car.
Just recently it started this vibration at speeds above 40 MPH. If cruising down the road at say 55 MPH and you step on the gas to accelerate, you can feel the vibration in the seat of your pants but not in the steering wheel. If you lift your foot from the gas pedal, the car smooths out perfectly. The vibration seems to be related to the speed of the wheels and load on the engine, not the speed of the engine (RPM's).
Anybody got any ideas where to start looking?
Thanks - gt7
