I have been without tailights (I have brake, signal and backup lights) for an unknown period of time as I just realized last week that they were not working. A friend of mine who is a mechanic diagnosed it finally as being the fuse box. Has anyone else had this problem before. I am repalcing the fuse box with one from my donor car so it should be fixed shortly. The donor car is an Si and the main car is a dx, will this be a problem?

My friend had a problem to where he would hit his horn and it would blow the fuse and than he wouldn't have any taillights. I think that we can down to finding a bad groud in the horn.

try just replacing the fuse first, instead of the whole fusebox.

Fuses have been replaced and mechanic narrowed it down to it being a fuse box problem.

Changed the fuse box and they still do not work. I know that the tailights are on the same line as the instrument lights. I did take off the whole cluster assembly about 2 weeks ago, I wonder if that did anything...

I had this problem in my 85 Civic. The plug which connects the front half of the car to the back half was not getting good connections. This plug was located under the door sill, between the front & back doors on my 85 sedan. I dunno if the wiring is similar in 4G's or not. I was able to access mine by pulling the carpet out from under the door sills and cleaning up the plug...it had about 25 wires, and my stop lights were not functioning, but some other things did..just one more thing to check.

you might be grounded out inside the dash, cuz they are connected on the same fuse, so take apart your cluster again and double check your connections.
