I have a 2001 Taurus SEL with a Duratec V6 that starts when it wants to.
Ok, well, it all started when I parked to go into a store. I wasn't gone for very long. When I tried to start it, it would start but run really rough and then stall and die. It did this a couple of times before it wouldn't even start up and run rough anymore, it would just keep turning over. After trying it a handful more times, it started. I noticed that when I tried turning on the left blinker, it would blink really fast. After awhile of driving, it fixed itself. And the starting problem also went away for a week. Just recently it has decided to not start and it will turn over but it just won't fire. But somehow it will start right up when it wants to. I think it's possessed lol.
I don't think it's the fuel filter because it doesn't run rough under load and I haven't experienced any loss in power.
Literally it runs perfectly when it does start. And when it does start, it will start right away.
Any ideas?

You really need to determine if you don't have spark or fuel when it won't start. I'm ruling out air and compression since neither of those would be likely to be intermittent. Off the top of the head your symptoms sound like they could be a fuel pump that's on its way out.
