Hi, i have a strong 355 chevy small block in my 54 IH pickup that seems to have a loud squeal at high rpm from the belt.
The belt that seems to make the noise is the serpintine. It is new and starts to squeal at about 5000 with one of those flex fans. When i had a steel solid fan the noise was at about 3000. But the blet is extreamly tight and i dont wanna put to much more load on the water pump or alternator bearings.
It is a 87 van belt system with one serpentine belt for water pump and alternator and one v belt for power steering pump. all of these are stock chevy parts.
should i try to get my belt even tighter or does it sound like a bearing may already be bad
