2900 yen that is getting a bit pricey. Good news anyway, a nice change to another Ferrari at the very least! Wonder if Tamiya will include the Compaq decals too, look much better than HP logos IMHO.

If not, I'm sure Studio 27 will. :)

Buying new kits is getting more and more expensive. :( But at least we have a new kit to build :):):p

Regardless of the cost, it is good news to see another F1 kit out there, I will pay the price and add this one to the collection I think.

FANTASTIC!!

I want that kit now!

It is rather pricey, but I'd rather pay that than more for a Studio 27 kit.

Can't wait - what's the predicted release date?

Those are in fact excellent news for all F1 modeller fans.
I told you that there is a close relation between Tamiya’s R/C and 1/20 plastic cars :D
Will be great to put it side by side with the Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes and will be waiting for more of these wonderful surprises by Tamiya. :)

Honestly, I've been feeling bad about mentioning a new f1 kit from tamiya last year, because I didn't hear any news, and I started thinking, gee it was only about R/C. I'm relieved.

Anyway, the kit is priced at 2900 yen. It features BMW P82 engine, which is glued on to the monocock, instead of the under tray. Brake disk and calipers are separate, and under tray is screwed on.
After Enzo, I'm expecting to see 1/12 scale quality in this 1/20 scale FW24.

Quote from HLJ, "Tamiya's new FW24 kit (due late May) will feature complete engine detail that attaches directly to the monocoque, separately molded brake calipers and disks (which rotate with the wheels!) and even jack stands so you can portray the car during a pit stop. Of course, the rear cowl opens to show off the engine, too. Place your advance order today .....

Oh my god !!!! :eek2: i cant wait !!!

If I'm not mistaken, HP was first used at last year Silverstone...

I've done some quick research but apparently Williams did modify their aero pack when they switched to HP logos. It coincided with each other. And as far as I can see in these pics, they did the correct version with the HP. So making Compaq version, when decals will come available, will mean you have to modify rear-end too.

So, I'm very excited too about this. Although I don't want it build in my collection  I think I might buy one. Just for the sake of Tamiya, so that they can make more money and bring more kits out. Afterall, buying a Williams kit isn't as bad as buying a Ferrari kit :lol2:

Damn Guido you are correct! I did a bit of quick research too and there are some signifigant diferences. Nothing too major, different winglets and some squaring up on the rear end would be required to post date to "Compaq" spec. Do-able but probably not by me. I've already got the RAG 1:24th FW23 to build anyway!

No seriously, it's very impressive.

Question though, is the CF decals or did they just paint it the "Tamiya recommended" way? It looks like it's sprayed.

I used the recommended 1-1 mix of Revell paints 51 (ultra marine blue, gloss) and 54 (night blue, gloss) Came out pretty cool, nice kit overall.

Thanks, I used the original tires which were pretty good, except for the stuck rubber in the middle of the tire after I removed the "rubber frame" that they were attached to. Revell has improved this with their latest F1 kit, the Toyota TF102, which had very nice tires. Now without a rubber frame. (first thing I noticed as I opened the kit :) )

I'm not tamiyarevell, but those pics are from the Tamiya site. The link was posted a few days ago in this very thread (my me). If you wanna go see for your self, click on this:
http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/20055williams/index.htm.
You've already seen all the pics and the rest is not much use unless you speak Japanese.

The pictures are of the Tamiya 1:20th model, so with a bit of skill (and CFing) that is how the kit will build OOB.

I'm still waiting for the Minardi. Where's the Minardi? ;)

But seriously, this kit looks gorgeous. If JPM wasn't such an ass, and Ralf so boring, I'd build it in a heartbeat.

Hmm, maybe there's a Renault or Toyota in the works. Fernando Alonso and Olivier Panis are cool.

Revell AG make a model of the Toyota if it is of any interest to you, and if you didn't already know.

No I didn't know that. I'll have to hunt one down.

Any time a major manufacturer ponies up the bucks to get serious about a major form of motorsport I like it.... unless they over stay their welcome, dominate a series, and then run it into the ground to the point where the series starts to no longer make financial sense.

Audi, get the hell out of sportscars and build an F1 if you're willing to spend that much money. We don't need to see the ALMS killed in the same way you and Porsche killed the glorious Can-Am.

But I digress....

The blue carbon fiber decal I put on the hood of my Exiv is in 1/20 scale pattern made by Scale Motorsport. I bet with Matthew Wells connection to Tamiya he new the FW24 was coming for a long time. I bought it in early March this year. I could be wrong about this being designed for this car but why else would he have done blue in 1/20? :)
