I have an '87 supra turbo and absolutely love it, but sometimes, not always, but sometimes when I'm driving the check engine light comes on and the turbo feels like it is getting rid of power instead of adding to it. I hear the turbo spool and everything, but not power. I'm sorry if someone else has already posted something like this, but I just joined and hope you will forgive me.
me and a few friends looked for leaks but found none.
Any input would help me out greatly, Please Help.

Overheating??? Could be anything. Get a Front Mount Intercooler if it is overheating.

hi
that problem could be anything. check that the air intake is clamped on to the turbo very tightly as air could be leaking. It may be that your waste gate is screwed. the best thing to do is to take the car for a dyno tune. there they could tell u exactly what is wrong with it and will throw in some new plugs and a change of oil too.

Again with the dead threads.... If your still visiting this forum "suprman" have you tried pulling the codes? I'd be willing to bet you've got a code 52, http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/techtip/engineerrorcodes.html . By the way "phatdex" the supra came with a FMIC, stock, how would getting one help anything. If you were thinking of intake temps being too high then it's being caused be another problem, not the stock FMIC.
