HI
Base was a Porsche RS60 slot model 1.24 from Phoenix Racecars. Here some of the major works:
- metal wheels and brake drums from a Porsche 356
- 2 turned switches next to the instruments
- rings for the gauges
- frame form 2 mm welding material
- seat from the scrapbox
- tonneau form real leather, fixed with 0,7 mm bolts
- grip of the fuel cell cap drilled open
- rear lights from clear red sprue parts of a corvette kit, base for the lights are rings for the instruments
- turn lights are 0,7 mm bolts

Great model. Especially the display opportunity on the VW-Van is incredible. I donīt know how thekit looked when you started. Looking at my RS60-kit, I can only asure everybody that these things need a ton of work to get them looking as thisone does now.
Respect.

Very nice, love the subtle weathering :sunglasse; looks like it must be based on the old Revell RS60 slot car body from the '60's.
Here's mine for comparison; I found a Revell body years ago and used parts box stuff to finish it out (guts are from a Maisto diecast, not at all accurate).

I echo Bob's comments. The subtle weathering adds to the perfection that is the RS60 build you've done.
Great work.

Hello Mike,
how could I miss this thread?? Damn... that little machine looks immaculate!!!
The subtle weathering really adds to the model, as well as the display. What did you use for the base and the fence? Reality in scale ;)
Two little things, though:
- I think the car is a bit too shiny, have never seen a car from back then with a shine like that (clear coat too thick? too much polishing?)
- the brake drums are too clean, compared to the rest of the wheels
Other than that it surely is a stunning model. Really am looking forward to see the Bunker Bulli finished and loaded with this beauty...

An interesting point. Thought this photo would be useful:

This is Carol de Beaufort's Le Mans car that I'm basing my scratchbuild on. At 50 years old, it is now beautifully immaculate. This photo was taken when it was only a few months old!
Note the badly replaced new wing and the sealant for the lights that looks like it was applied by a 3 year old!:grinyes:
