98 Galant something missing, won't let it start

Good evening all. I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant that recently lost its accelerater cable while driving to work. (115 mph is not fun in a canyon with 8% grades when your cable has frayed and jammed up:shakehead)

However, my problem is that when started my repair, something fell out of an electrical connecter at the back of the engine against the fire wall. My guess is it has something to do with the ignition system as the car will crank, but not turn over. The forum won't allow me to post a pic for some reason. The location of this wire is on the passenger, again, against the fire wall. It is about 6 inches to the left of the cruise control servos. It is a wiring harness that plugs into something and it is the thing it plugs into that I have lost. If any one knows what is that I lost, I would appreciate some help on this so that I can get my commuter car back on the road. Thanks in advance!

We might have a solution for the issue. There is none. According to the dealership, it is just an empty wire harness. For the 96 and the 97 years it may have connected to vacuum controls, but not in the 98. Thanks for all who have thought on this.:disappoin
