2005 monte dual climate control not working

when i turn on the heat and set the dual climate control i only get cold air on the driver side but the passenger side blows warm air.....is this a sensor problem? also my fuel gauge will work sometimes...when it doen'st it will point striaght down..what would cause that? thank you for any help you can offer..
