I have just removed the intake plenum on my 3.4 liter V-6 grand am and it was very dirty with carbon build-up so I used carb cleaner to clean it out and dried it thoroughly before reinstalling. However I also used the cleaner inside the intake ports to the engine because it was also very dirty. I never dried the inside of the intake itself. Now I believe I have flooded the engine because it will not start but is turning over fine all day long. Can someone please help! Thanks a bunch.
Also if anyone knows the exact numbering for the spark plugs in the front? Is it 2-4-6 looking at the front of the engine from left to right or the other way around? Maybe this is why it wont fire up. I may have these backwards????

list all the things that you removed/disconnected
did you remove complete manifold or just the upper part (upper plenum)?
from left to right on the radiator side 2-4-6 opposite from this you have 1 3 5
coils from left to right 1/4 3/6 2/5
see if all the connectors at the icm are connected (total of 3) if ckp sensor is disconnected you can crank till the new year.
- also check that map sensor is connected.

I have only removed the upper plenum which meant I disconnected many connectors to remove it. I believe I have connected them all back correctly because when starting it, it does try to spit or spudder sometimes. What is the ICM and CPK connector? I will check over once again, but I am certain I have connected everything back to where they belong, but anything is possible. I never disconnected the spark plugs wires from the coil packs, only the 3 front plug wires. And now I know I connected them back right. I just really believe with all that carb cleaner down inside the lower intake manifold plenum may be causing the flooding inside the engine and very hard to start. Will this eventually dry up or maybe evaporate so it will finally crank?

ICM=ignition coil module (part that holds the ignition coils) there is one connector on the left side and two on the right side, and if one of them is disconnected you will have problems starting. If everything worked fine before and now it doesn't start then something is left disconnected. even if you flooded it so much eventually after pressing the accelerator pedal the engine should be able to start. Check all the connectors again.
