Ebay Dump Tubes

What do you guys think about them? Would you say there not worth it or are they good to go?

I have the ugly one that doesn't blow below the cross member, so I need to either get a different one or add a piece of pipe onto it so it blows under the car. I want to make it look as clean as possible and I can't see that happening with this dump tube I have.

Here's a couple pics that I'm dealing with

It's been so long since I got mine that I can't remember when I got it. I think I did get it off of ebay for like $30. I figured the worst that can happen is that it takes a shit and I put my old ported out 02 housing back on. I haven't had any problems with it since putting it on. Except that it doesn't clear the lower intercooler piping completely. I put some exhaust wrap on the piping that way hopefully it would shield it from all the hot exhaust coming out at full boost.

Did you notice any rise in intake temperatures when you installed the dump tube?

My datalogger is broke, so I was never able to actually see if that made much of a difference. I would like to get a new one and actually see what my intake temperatures are compared to ambient air temp. I would think that if only half of the exhaust coming out of the dump tube is hitting the IC pipe that has exhaust wrap on it, and its only hitting it at full boost, then it wouldn't make much of a difference. Plus you have the rush of air cooling it off slightly as your accelerating. That's just my theory though, I guess it helps me sleep better at night.

Oh I was looking at your mods and didn't notice a FMIC. Do you have IC piping looping around the drivers side of the engine bay?

I'm going to be going with a short route FMIC in the near future, just planning ahead. I'd like to save the cash and make this dump work but frankly it just looks like shit.

If I can remember how to post a picture on here I will take one of mine tomorrow and show you what it looks like. The dump tube still looks decent. Of course since I installed it I have only probably put 1500 miles on it. My daily driver gets all the mileage.

As I recall I was looking for some flexible exhaust pipe that diameter that i could use to direct it around the IC pipe. But when my tranny took a shit everything got put on hold. I guess it's time I start looking again

That's what mine looks like, it's a little bit different than the one you are considering, the tube is angled, where yours looks like it goes straight down.

That's all I'm looking for anyway. I just may very well just do that. I was hoping someone on here would have one lying around that looked semi decent, that wanted to part with it.

Or you could just weld an extension to your dump tube if you have access to a welder.
