In the middle of replacing head gaskets on my 2002 Silhouette. Can I remove the valves and clean them with out having to worry about the seats? By the way...just dropped a hydrualic lifter and the damn end flew off somewhere in my garage...oh what fun!

Why would you want to remove the valves? You can scotchbright the combustion chamber if it is all carboned up, but there isn't any reason to remove the valves to do that. But, to answer your question, yes you can remove the valve and not worry about the seats. Don't come near the seat face on the valve and make sure each valve goes back exactly where it came out and with the same spring and keepers and you should be OK.

Thanks for the response. Ended up just cleaning the chamber and didn't mess with the valves. Put the thing back together and is running great! Can't say the same for the cuts on my hands though.
