how do you know if you have a bad fuel pump I have change filter and relay. I can pour gas on injectors and it will start then stall.

I pressure tested mine, down by the fuel filter. It needs to have 9-13 PSI, I think. Sounds like you might as well plan on changing the pump, mine was ~ 40 bucks at Advance. Good luck

you might as well get the whole pump kit for $200. i just changed one, and it wasn't just the pump on the assembly that was going bad. if your truck feels like its going to die when you gas it, and there are no engine codes, then it may be the pump.

I would definately just change the whole unit for $200 thats a lot better then having to drop the tank again when you find out it wasn't just the pump that was bad. I've been told at to listen to the pump at an idle and get under the truck right under the tank and listen if the pump changes pitch a lot instead of just being one solid humming noise than the pump is propably about to burn up and is on its last leg.
Ive also changed the pump on my 98 z71 after about 160,000 miles only advice I can give is, if you don't want to cut your bed than try get access to a trans jack it makes it so much easier and also get a new retaining ring for the pump housing because your old one will be very rusted and I'm amazed I got my old one back on without it breaking. Buy the $4.00 internal clip fuel line remover kit from any auto store you'll need two different sizes and the new housing comes with a new wiring harness, make sure you have realy crimping pliers otherwise the wires will most likely vibrate lose.
Good Luck,
