Poltergeists and telekinesis

I was thinking about poltergeists and telekinesis the other day, and, well, if you were telekinetic and could move stuff with your mind, what happens if your neck gets broken and you're a quadriplegic? (This is assuming, of course, that one believes in telekinesis and poltergeists.) As a telekinetic, you could, in theory, think really hard about moving your arm and move it with mind power instead of muscles - or you could just move the muscles with mind power. Also, about those people who discover telekinesis by accident...what if you didn't KNOW you were telekinetic, and were rendered quadriplegic, and you were one of those "miracle" people who doesn't get paralyzed or who regains movement but the truth is you're just telekinetic and don't know it?
About the poltergeists, if there are conscious spirits that can move stuff around, and they usually use their powers to scare/torture/annoy people, why don't we have "helper" poltergeists? I mean a poltergeist that haunts, say, a paralyzed or sick person, fetches food, cooks for them, plays checkers with them, etc. This could be really handy, like those "helper" monkeys for paralyzed people, but they don't poop on the floor and you don't have to feed them.
