My radar detector doesn't detect laser at each time

I've a Cobra ESD7000 6 bands radar detector (including laser). The radar detection works fine, but I doubt of the laser detection efficiency. One time a police man pointing my car, but the detector didn't detect it at all. Maybe the laser beam didn't hit the laser eye detector. I found that not practicable. What is the probability that the police man aim the laser eye precisely?

It write on the device: 360° laser detection.
Which laser detector do you have? It detects the laser beam fine?

It is also quite possible that the officer did not engage the speed gun on you. just because you saw him pointing on you as you went by does not mean he had it on, or fired a beam on you. i have had no problems with my dtector picking up laser. just a possibility i am throwing out.

Oh yes, it's very possible. I didn't think of that. Maybe he just want to exercise cause the officer seems young.

The laser is probably only 1" diameter when it hits your car and according to a cop I know, they usually aim at the license plate. If it doesn't hit your detector, it can't be detected.

Basically if your radar detector is even able to pick up some a laser warning when ur shot its just letting you know your about to get a ticket need a laser jammer.
This site explains laser pretty good:

Cool, thanks for that info.
I understand why my detector didn't detect it. I was very close to the officer when he points me (60 ft). So the beam was very short, about 2" only.
He didn't aim me in that 2" radius of my detector. So it's more efficient when he's very far and don't see my car so I get time to change lane.
I know about jammer, but it's more expensive.
