Steering shaft removal – anyone done this?

I need to remove the steering shaft from the car. U-joints are disconnected on the rack side and it looks like there is just a snap ring and a support bearing at the bottom (outside the firewall) and the same at the top (inside the car). Looks pretty straight away but, wanted to see if anyone has taken this apart and if so if there are any surprises in there.
