Will not turn over, not passlock

Please someone help me with this new dilemma with my 2002 Grand Am SE 3.4. I have had the passlock issue before but this is not it because the security light is not on and it has some new problems. When I try to start it it will not turn over, everything else seems normal except there is no door chime, the radio will not turn on (CD goes in and out) just here a noise from the speaker where it is trying to turn on, and the keyless entry will not work from either of my remotes. Everything else seems to work such as lights, trunk release from in the car, door locks from in the car, windows, and so on. I am truly confused and we have checked about every fuse it could possibly be. I have also had issues with the shifting of the car for sometime. It is an automatic and when it shifts into 3rd and 4th the rpms go up and down a few times then it figures it out and goes normal. Once in awhile it will shift really hard and it sounds and feels the the transmission is going to drop right out and I was told to pull it over, shut it off for a minute and then I should be good. This works but what is wrong? I wonder if my computer is just shot, and if this is the case what should I do?:runaround:

so no cranking at all?
what is the battery voltage? do you hear any clicks or anything?
turn the head lights on and tell someone to try to start it, do the lights dim for a second? if yes the ignition switch is OK, Neutral safety switch is OK, and power to the starter solenoid id going but starter solenoid could be the culprit.

No cranking, new battery. The car actually sat for 2 months because I have a rod knock and was waiting for the funds to have the motor rebuilt. I went out and started it the other day and it started right up after 2 months of sitting. Drove it that day for awhile and the next day, nothing. All you can here when it is turned over are the fuel injectors doing their thing, no clicking or cranking. Also no door chime, no radio, and no keyless entry, everything else seems fine.

hey sjoslin00 you did not answer my question: do you hear starter solenoid clicking? this is very important to know.

under the hood check the fuse box (fuse #5 is 40A fuse make sure it is OK) then make sure the vehicle is in P, then go to the starter you will see ppl wire, have DVOM (Digital Voltage Ohm) tester handy tell someone to keep the ignition key in the crank position while you are measuring voltage at the S terminal of the starter solenoid it should be the one that has ppl wire connected to it. So connect the black lead of your tester to a good ground and red lead of your tester to the S terminal of the starter solenoid with ppl wire you should get 12+ Volts.
Please do this and let me know what you results are.
you can also try moving shifter lever from P to 1 several times then put it back into P try to start, then put it into N and try to start it.

Tried to resync the keyless entry and I held down the unlock button and turned the key to on and there went the door chime, the car started right up. I think it is time to give up on this car, I'm thinking maybe a 2000 or newer bonneville with the 3800 is what I will get as a temporary car, hopefully it will be a little more reliable.
