Found a weird part sitting inside throttle valve spring...

I pulled my trani pan to install a spring that came with my Bowtie Overdrive's TV Made Easy kit and found that inside the spring I pulled out, just sitting in the middle of it was a metal rectangular piece that had "Shift KitŠ" stamped into it. It's a very thin and about 1/4"x1/2" rectangular metal piece. What is this and is it supposed to be in there? Can't possibly serve any function but before I put the pan back on I want to know whether or not to leave it or take it out of there.

Is this a THM 350 or 700?
I am not sure, but I think the spring affects line pressure and helps control the softness and 'feel' of the shifts. That tiny metal piece may be intended to defeat the function of the valve altogether, making the shifts much firmer. And no, I don't think it's stock. Someone put it in there.
Does the tranny shift firmly and crisply now? If you remove that metal piece, you may go back to a soft, mushy feel that you would get in a stock trans. However, it may interfere with the new kit's function.
Why did you remove the valve? Does the kit have a new spring to go in there? If yes, put the spring in from the new kit and leave the tiny metal piece out, imo.

700r4, the shifts are super snappy. Coasting along at 20 miles an hour and approaching 3000rpm and when it gets there bam it lurches into 2nd gear. Can't wait to get this kit going and see how it corrects all that nonsense.
According to Bowtie Overdrives that metal piece is put in there to keep the spring from over compressing. They said I can keep it in there or take it out, doesn't matter being that the new spring I installed that came with the TV Made EZ kit is designed so it won't over compress.
