Opinion on a Ford Flex

I drove in a Flex the other day, a co-worker had one on loan as a rental. Sweet ride! I'm a Gen Y (babyboomer's kid) and found this vehicle to be very appealing in content, style and functionality. It's more attractive to look at than a minivan, but gets better mileage than an SUV. It's big inside, comfortable, and feels safe. But the guy that had actually borrowed the Flex said he disliked it (he's about 50), said it felt like a Hearse. I say it looks more like a limo than a Hearse.

So I'm wondering, what are some opinions on this vehicle? Everybody is trying to find a new alternative to the stereotypical people-mover and I think this is a great solution, but obviously this isn't the only opinion going around...

I have never driven one but I really liked it when I saw it at the Toronto auto show. They're a bit like a super Honda Element, and look more elegant than a slovenly minivan. I was impressed at the upscale fit, finish and design.

Personally, I love functional, roomy vehicles with lots of room and flexibility to be comfortable and/or haul stuff. I don't quite understand how people can live with just one car that cannot haul cargo. What do they do when they need to move stuff?

Imo the looks are fine. Nice shape and detailing.

Interesting, I thought the younger gen would love this thing but it really has different opinions across the board. Luckily I don't need a kid-hauler for the next while, it seems these things can get pretty expensive when you tart them up. The Flex SEL Limited my co-worker had borrowed was like $55K CAD.

dang, may aswell get an MKX, same car just shmancier

I actually like the Flex AND the MKZ, but both are far and away out of my price range.
