i work as a higly paid messenger and people have asked me if i've looked into getting a motorcycle. I don't know anything 'bout em except that they're cheaper than cars. If i were to look into buying a 99 to 00 honda bike what price range am i looking at? Also how hard is it to pick up on driving one? I can drive stick in a car and picking up on a bike shouldn't be too different right? I was told $5000 from a guy with a bike here but that seems a little cheap. I'm not looking into anything expensive or fancy, just a regular nice looking bike with the qualities of a honda, not fast, just efficient. Thanks.

Well, as long as it is not a sportsbike you will be fine. Please look at some of the other threads in this forum about basically your situation.

ok, for a good example, go back to when you are 15 and just got your driving permit. You have absolutely no idea what you are doing, and if you do you are still making mistakes left and right. Now imagine, instead of a everyday car to start in, imagine your car being a Ferrari F1 indy car. In no way would you be ready to start out driving that, and ultimately more then likely you would end up crashing it. Same thing goes for sportbikes, these machines are as specced out as ANY car. They have absolutely absurds amount of power, and so much so that it could easily kill you, or make you end up dropping the bike or yourself. There are alot of physics into riding a motorcycle that you need to learn over time, and reactions to situations.
Again, read other threads where people were asking help for first bikes, this way I don't have to repeat everything 1000000 times.
