Thank you. It was a pain to install, because it would appear my car has been in a front end collision at one point in it's life, causing things not to line up well..

did you fabricate the metal air dam ? did this improve the performance in any way ?

No I bought it. It's called the RAISS Ram Air Intake, and it gives the ram air effect for LT1/L99 B-Bodies by diverting some air from the grille to this box which acts like a spot for it to compress and force induction (of course ram air only works when going fast enough).
But throttle response from air filter placement increased, everything is "right there" now...

at high way speeds I would think this is going to give the best results..also the location is high and should be good to avoid road debris and water..the oem air box is restricted on its input....where you live in florida keeping the air intake away from the hot road surface is also good..
where did you buy this?

Looks really good! I was thinking of fabricating my own ram air system on my caprice. I don't think they make one for mine so i have no choice really.

on your vehicle this ram air would cause carb/engine run problems when the air temps drop below 50 deg f...your carb is designed to work with 100deg f air..thats why you have a air intake heat tube from the exterior of driverside exhaust manifold to the air cleaner...
in the summer this would work fine...I made a ram air for my 83..
I bypassed the heat tube , then cut a hole in the passenger side of the air cleaner and ran a hose to the front of the vehicle...same on the driverside..
when at highway speeds this gave the same effect as evildragons vehicle,,much faster response, and rpm rise /torque increased..
but if the temperature drops your in trouble...too much cold air is no good ...

The RAISS is what I use. I like it BUT once you are making power you will find the short single filter a restriction. I run a y-pipe and two filters.
