Lights on with ignition

I've recently bought a 2000 S-10 and noticed the headlights and taillights come on when the ignition switch is turned on. I have the manual switch turned to off. I had a 1998 S-10 previously which had the little bulb on dash that turned lights on when it became dark as this one does.

Day time running light.:grinno:
2000 have 4 different body computers that work stuff different.
And some body computers can be programed different.
What body computer do you have?
Type 1, 2, 3 or 4?

Where do you go to find out which body computer it has? It has daytime running lights but the headlights come on also. I didn't think they would automatically come on until the little sensor on the dash reacts to the dark.

I can not find the manual way for some reason.
A good repair mannual should have it someplace in it or
http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html
Dealer vin check or a good capable body scanner will tell you.
Some can be reprogramed and some can not.
If they are not working right a good body capable scanner should have codes stored.
Post back any codes you have.
