what do I need to fix the radio button's backlight. The non-lit numbers are ok to use during the day, but at night they are not visible. this is on a 1997 Suburban

My guess is that you have to take it a part and switch out the lights. I did this on the temp control.

You have to take the radio apart, desolder the broken lights and resolder new lights in. You can probably find comparable lights at radio shack or just go to a pick and pull and get a similar radio, find which bulbs are good and swap them. It is not a super easy job, but it can be done.

There are companies that sell the bulbs in a kit along with install instructions. Corvette radios is one of them. I have never dealt with them so I can't give any reviews but there website is fairly informative!

I have the same problem and would like to try to fix it myself.
But when I tried to remove the radio ...??

Where do you start removing parts of the dash to get to the radio..?
+ I don't like to break off lips or leave screwdriver marks etc...

This same thing happened to me, no one could figure it out, I even took it to Chevy to see if they could do it, they couldnt, I then took it in my own hands and pulled everything out, it was a simple fix, it was a plug in the back that came loose..

When that happened to mine, I replace the radio with another oEM for about $35 off Ebay...
