Me and my buddy are swapping a motor into his '81 Cutlass and we're wondering what trani this thing has (actually "had" as of today) in it. The motor in the Cutlass was a 260something V8, maybe 263, I can't remember the exact displacement, 260something. Anyway, not important, what we're wondering is what trani is this? I originally figured the car would have a 200r4 in it but I guess '81 is too old for that.

Looks like a Turbo 350 with a 6" shaft (short tail). The engine was most likely a 260 cu.in.

It definitely has a 6" tail shaft. I know the trani's not overdrive so that's all the other info I know. Turbo 350 huh, you're certain? We're going to be bolting it up to the 350 he got out of a '71 Cutlass. It's got the 7a heads which I've read are the best ones to have when it comes to the olds 350's.

Yes, that is a TH350C with lockup converter.

It looks like the pan has not been off since forever.
I suggest dropping the pan, change the filter, clean-out the pan and make sure the pan magnet is in place, before installing it.
