How many miles are on these rings? If you had good compression before then they should seal back fine.

If the motor hasn't been rebuilt before I would recommend to go ahead and replace all the rings while your in there. It wouldn't take long to do a quick hone and rering it. Also some new bearings and you would be good to go.

Thanks for the reply but the car is onley a stanby incase we have a breakdown not worth that much, but it does or did run good ,piston & rod onley cost $16. new rod bearing $6. head gasket 18 bucks:smokin: just wondered about those rings. shoud i knock the glaze off the rings aswell as the block u think ?

If its just a backup car I would just put them back in, I just recently had to replace a bent rod and I reused the rings and they sealed back perfectly. They only had 15k so I wasn't worried about it to much. I wouldn't touch the rings or cylinder walls just put them back in. Worst happens they dont seal up as good as before but I doubt it would be bad enough to hurt anything
