all hondas are the same in design for the "home made CAI" only the different models have slightly differnt dimensions. I have a 99-00 civic Si CAI on my 91 hatch and it fits fine.
so, the directions would be the same for any civic.

something else i can suggest is take the stock plastic piping to a muffler shop, and tell them to make a 3 inch diameter pipe the same shape as the stock plastic one with mandrel bends then buy a K&N filter and a 3inch I.D. PVC pipe fitting with the gear clamps on it (its like rubbery and about 10 bux CND) use that to hold the pipe on the intake manifold and put the K&N on and ur set, not too hard to do

What kind of gains do you get from the cold air set up?
Is there any noticible difference?

your engine sounds louder... honestly there isn't that much of a gain... maybe a few hp but not much... its more of a looks thing...

on the site they said they felt more power thru the whole power band so it does give u more torque and hp

key word... felt... they did it through the ass dyno... it will give you a few ponies... but very few

its not all about looks, its more about engine efficiency. If you can get more air into the engine (less restriction) and have the air be cooler, your engine will make more power. AND, most mods go together, meaning that even if your CAI dont make that much power on a stock engine, add a header and it could make more power as a combination.
its a good idea regardless since more air is available to use and more dense because its CAI.
but yes, most horsepower numbers are either overrated or measured on an engine with a lot more performance parts than the average honda-holic.
2-5hp should be expected, but look more towards the lower number.

I wouldn't get a 3" intake after all the stuff that i have read. From what i have read/learned 2.5" piping is all that you need on a D-series. Thats what makes the AEM so good is the size of the piping, they use 2.5". Just about everyone else uses 3".

if i do make this intake, how would i prevent water from getting into it?
and what would happen if water did?

u could add a AEM Bypass valve and that will work for it

well they did Dyno the AEM CAI and when they made there own they said it felt like it had more torque and said its better than the AEM..
I have not dyno tuned this new intake, but in swapping out my old AEM intake for my version, I can tell you that I have not noticed any power loss whatsoever. In fact, the new system feels stronger than the AEM system did.
You should feel a SIGNIFICANT difference in power across the entire power band.
those are direct quotes from the How-To Page

The AEM bypass valve is a total waste of money, i have not heard one positive remark about them from an owner one. You don't want to suck up water than don't drive through deep puddles, other than that you'll be fine.
