93 Metro Low Compression doesn't raise when oil put in cylinders

I have a 93 Metro 1.0 3cyl, it is hard to start, and doesn't idle well. Once it gets running it drives great when the RPMs are up. Today I got it warmed up and checked the compression.

#1 - 45
#2 - 110
#3 - 40

I then put about a teaspoon of oil into each cylinder and rechecked.

#1 - 50
#2 - 120
#3 - 45

Each cylinder didn't go up by much. Am I correct in thinking I may have a bad camshaft?

you have 2 burned exhaust valves. head needs to be rebuilt or replaced and should do the rings at the same time

Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing that must be a common problem on these engines? I have quite a few years of wrenching experience, but this is the 1st Metro I have owned. My 1st guess was worn camshaft lobes, but I could definitely see burned valves causing the same symptoms.

never seen a cam lobe on a metro wear this far but seen lots of them burn valves

Cool. I'll start tearing into it tomorrow. I'm debating buying a $500 JDM motor, or buying a complete rebuilt head for $200 and doing the rings/bearings myself.

These engines are easy to rebuild. I been a mechanic for years, but never did any kind of rebuilds until I got my Metro. Here are some helpful topics with pictures to help on your quest...........
