'89 Suburban factory lug wrench

Got an '89 Chevy Suburban C1500 the other week and found that the factory lug wrench (stored under hood) is somewhat loose on my lugs. The lugs appear to be stock size. I got another wrench from a '74 Suburban in the yard and it's the same way. The one end on my generic 4-way wrench fits snug, so I am using that for now. Does anyone know why I am having this problem?
